Golf Las Vegas

 Golf Anyone?

Hole 9

Whether you're a weekender playing 18 so you can chill on 19, or actual PGA pro (that likes to chill on 19), Las Vegas does not lack on choices of where to hit the greens. I am far from anything 'pro', can't really claim the weekender spot quite yet, but I definitely like to chill at the 19th hole, it's where I do my best work! That being said, I do enjoy swinging the club and yelling at the ball to get in the hole, so here are a few highlights and tons of lowlights of some of my rounds around the valley.

Chimera Golf Club

This course is just shy of 7,000 yards, set in a desert landscape with magnificent views of the Las Vegas strip. You'll definitely be challenged to make smart shots (hole 9 pictured above), but after putting off on 18 you'll be ready to book your next tee time for another round.

Chimera Golf Club is actually located in Henderson, NV, the neighboring city to Las Vegas. It's just 15 miles or 25 minutes from the strip nestled in the Tuscany gated community. Just show your ID and let the guard know your going to the course, easy peasy (lemon squeasy).

Overall this course has nice open fairways that will keep your ball in play. Edged with the desert, some gravel rocks, water and of course trees as well houses, will definitely have you panicking for a moment while you search for your ball while hoping for a decent lie.

At first look, the course appears to be this sprawling picture of rolling green that isn't too complicated to stay in play. Looking closer, you realize you need play off the box with course management and strategy or you'll land on the wrong fairway or someone's backyard. Gentle rolling hills, a well placed bunker or rocky terrain need to be played with caution to avoid leaving yourself with an awkward stance or worse an unplayable ball.

Regardless of your game, be sure to take in your beautiful surroundings! The mountains are in view most of the time, and the Las Vegas Strip can be seen sprawled just beyond. Gorgeous desert sunsets are almost a guarantee. And keep in mind that you're in Vegas, so the course is open year round!

P.S: stay hydrated, order from the cart girls and leave them a tip...it's a desert out there! Happy golfing!!
